About:

Sarah is a person in long term recovery from substance use disorder. She discovered her life’s purpose when she began working with adults and youth in recovery from substance use disorder. Sarah is a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor I and Certified Addiction Counselor I with specialties in experiential learning as well as anger resolution. Throughout her career, Sarah developed a passion and talent for writing. In 2021, she obtained a Grant Writing Certification from the University of Georgia. Sarah has over 5 years of experience in grant writing, program development, program management, curriculum development, group facilitation, individual support, graphic design, social media management, business development, donor development, fundraising, and community engagement.


Since 2018, Sarah has served as a recovery advocate on a local, state, and national level as she has participated in a multitude speaking engagements, panel discussions, trainings, and presentations for national conferences, community events, colleges, local schools, task forces, and nonprofit organizations. She is a published author and has written several articles for a national magazine relating to substance use disorder, co-occurring disorders, recovery, group facilitation, coping skills, relapse prevention and a variety of other topics. Sarah joined the Alana Recovery team in February 2023 as the Organizational Development Director.


Sarah believes that raising awareness reduces stigma surrounding substance use disorder and educating our community is essential to encourage those who are still suffering to get the help that they so desperately need. Sarah enjoys hiking, antiquing, thrift shopping, and doing art projects with her loved ones. She absolutely adores her two Main Coon Cats, Sir Loki the Giant and Sir Odin of Valhalla.
